My research examines issues in gender, peace, and security, with a special focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Grounded in political science, it draws on interdisciplinary and mixed methodology approaches to understanding key challenges for peace and development.

I have received funding from the US State Department Fulbright Program, the Beit Fund, the Carnegie Trust, the Economic and Social Research Council (RCUK), and the UK Department for International Development, as well as Georgetown, Oxford, and Edinburgh universities.
